Version 4.8.5

The Four Major New Features

Two for the storefront, two for the workplace behind it.

New product filters on category pages

Streamlined filtering—no page jumps, in the layout of your choice.

The filters on category, manufacturer, and promotion pages have been completely redesigned. You decide how they appear: as a compact filter bar, a side panel, or a window—on a smartphone, either on the side or full-screen. Each selection option displays the number of results; applied filters appear as icons that can be removed individually; and instead of a blank page, a friendly message appears if a combination yields no results.

If desired, filtering occurs only after confirmation—the button then displays the exact number of results in advance. The filters are fully keyboard-accessible and pass changes in search results to screen readers. The filter box in the sidebar also follows the new design; the familiar operation remains the same.

Create Forms Using a Modular Builder

Create any form without programming—using drag-and-drop.

A new drag-and-drop builder in the backend creates forms with ten field types—ranging from text, number, and date to drop-down lists and Yes/No switches. The field list, detailed settings, and live preview are displayed side by side; you can manage labels, help text, and custom error messages for each field and for each shop language.

You can choose to collect submissions from standalone forms in the new inbox, have them delivered via email, or create them directly as tickets. The integration points for the ticket form, product inquiry, price inquiry, and contact form are already set up: These four options expand the built-in shop form with your fields—the existing form continues to handle delivery, and submissions also appear in the inbox.

Hermes Shipping Directly from the Store

Certified integration—on par with DHL, UPS, DPD, and GLS.

You can generate shipping and return labels directly from the order view: as a PDF or ready for your label printer. The return label is available either as a PDF or as a mobile return slip via QR code, which your customer does not need to print. Tracking numbers and links are automatically added to the order.

Additional services such as oversized items, cash on delivery, preferred PaketShop locations, and international shipping—including customs information—are automatically generated by the store from the order; any missing information is reported in plain text in advance. The package notification is sent to Hermes only with your customer’s consent. This requires your own Hermes business customer account.

Completely new ticket view

Redesigned workspace—you decide when to switch over.

The overview, ticket processing, and new ticket creation have been redesigned and tailored to your daily workflow. Filters by status, support level, agent, and department can be freely combined, and the counters show upfront how many tickets a single click will generate. Predefined views such as “No Assignment,” “No Initial Response,” or “Deadlines” are available at the click of a button.

Image, text, and data attachments such as XML, JSON, or CSV open in a large preview window without requiring a download. Every employee can switch between the new and classic views at any time with a single click—without affecting colleagues. The classic view remains active by default.

What Your Customers See Immediately

Multiple product images directly in the list

Products with multiple images display a preview bar below the image in product lists—one click switches the main image without leaving the page. The “+N” tile opens a full-screen gallery with scroll, swipe, and zoom functionality. On a smartphone, simply swipe across the image. You can enable this feature selectively for each section.

Variant attributes automatically filterable

Features such as color or size no longer need to be manually updated on the main product page—the store automatically pulls them from the variants. Sold-out or deactivated variants are automatically removed from the filter and will reappear later. Product families can thus be found using the usual filters.

Reviews That Build Trust

Customer reviews appear in clean, organized cards—with star filters, sorting options, review titles, and a “Helpful” badge. If desired, AI can summarize the most important opinions into a brief overview. This helps prospective customers get a sense of the product more quickly.

Voluntary Manufacturer’s Warranty

For each product, you can provide a voluntary manufacturer’s warranty along with its terms and conditions—clearly separated from the statutory warranty and prominently displayed on the product page. This also prepares your store for the EU warranty label, which will become mandatory as of September 27, 2026.

Modern Slider Navigation

Sliders for bestsellers, new arrivals, and recommendations can be swiped or dragged with the mouse, featuring smooth snapping and a sleek position indicator. The cards adapt to the page width—full tiles instead of cropped fragments. Classic arrow navigation remains available if desired.

Search Finds More Than Just Products

In addition to products, the search also returns relevant categories, brands, how-to articles, and FAQ answers—either as compact shortcuts or as cards. This helps your customers reach their destination faster and reduces the likelihood of landing on an empty results page.

Less manual work in the backend

AI-generated text at the click of a button

Your store automatically fills content fields with AI—from product names and descriptions to SEO details, as well as category, manufacturer, news, and FAQ texts. For each field, you select the provider, model, and strategy, review the result in the preview, and new texts are automatically translated into all your store’s languages. This saves a lot of editorial time, especially for large product ranges.

Inbox for form submissions

All submissions are collected in a dedicated area—with unread indicators, search, and filters. You can expand individual entries, and the generated ticket is directly accessible. Inquiries submitted via the store’s built-in forms are also logged, without creating duplicate tickets.

Redesigned page editor

Structure, settings, and live preview are now clearly arranged side by side; the preview displays width, indentation, and alignment. New features include customizable background colors or images per section, full-screen width, a hero banner element, and product lists that can be embedded directly into content pages—prices and availability are always refreshed in real time.

Streamlined Dashboard, Pre-built Automations

The homepage of your backend displays clickable metrics tiles and charts for visitors, orders, and revenue; quick access and search are now located at the top of the header. For marketing automation, 54 ready-made use cases are available as templates—intentionally set to inactive so you can review them at your leisure.

Integrations, Security & Operations

Packstation and Paketshop at checkout

During checkout, your customers can locate the nearest DHL Packstation, branch, or Paketshop on a map and select it directly as their delivery destination—complete with distance, hours of operation, and services—without leaving the checkout process. The map uses the open-source mapping service OpenStreetMap.

More Reliable Google Merchant Center Feed

Several causes of rejected products have been resolved—including incorrect image URLs in foreign-language feeds. You can now decide for yourself whether items without a GTIN/EAN are included in the feed at all. Partner tracking via Adtraction now also reliably reports referred orders.

Modern Database Format & Secure Backups

Your store is switching to a modern database format that handles concurrent access on a line-by-line basis—even with many simultaneous visitors, orders, shopping carts, and searches are less likely to conflict. The migration is guided and includes a progress bar directly in the backend. The backup process also only confirms success once an area has been fully backed up.

Forgot your password? Now via a link

You can reset forgotten backend passwords yourself in your browser using a time-limited, one-time-use link; passwords are no longer sent in plain text. Your current password remains valid until you actively set a new one—no one can lock you out simply by requesting a reset. Cookie consent has also been tightened: The most recent selection made via the banner is what counts.

Frequently Asked Questions About Update 4.8

What’s new in XONIC 4.8?

The four biggest new features are the completely redesigned product filters on category pages, a form builder for the backend, the certified Hermes integration for shipping and return labels, and a completely new ticket view. Additional features include AI-generated text at the click of a button, a new review widget, the optional manufacturer’s warranty, and the option to select a DHL Packstation during checkout. In total, over 70 new features and more than 140 improvements have been added since version 4.7 (as of 4.8.5).

Do I need to make any changes after the update?

In most cases, no—new features are either enabled by default or intentionally disabled upon installation. Three points are worth a quick look: The eBay price suggestion now has its own toggle and must be activated once if needed. The five freely assignable attributes of the Google feed are fixed to the designated product additional fields—if the assignment differs, please check the campaign filters. And you should have any backups created before the update checked once to ensure they are complete.

Will anything change for my team regarding ticket processing?

Only if you want it to. The classic ticket view remains fully intact and is still active by default. Every employee can switch between the new and classic views with a single click—without affecting colleagues and without any data loss.

What do I need to use Hermes?

Your own Hermes business customer account. You enter your login credentials in the backend; everything else is already set up: The integration is certified and approved by Hermes. Hermes will then be available on par with DHL, UPS, DPD, and GLS.

How do I get the update to version 4.8.5?

Request your update via a support ticket—we’ll coordinate the schedule and process with you and install it for you. A valid support and update subscription is required; this can be extended online at any time if needed.
