Prices and Customer Groups

An item can have a different price for each customer group, including tiered pricing, special offers, and discounts. This guide explains how the store calculates the price based on these settings, how to set up customer groups, discounts, and offers, and what to check if the store displays a price different from the one entered.

At a Glance

  • Enter net prices: In the product details, you enter net prices. The store calculates the gross price using the tax rate for the customer’s country of delivery.
  • Customer Groups: Under Customers → Customer Groups. Each group determines whether it sees prices, whether they are gross or net, and whether special offers apply to it. Guests shop in the default customer group (set to “End Customers” by default).
  • Prices by Group: A group without its own price pays the price of the default customer group. The same applies to special offers. Category discounts, however, apply only to the group for which they are entered.
  • Discounts: Category discounts as a percentage per customer group or per customer, plus customer-specific prices per item. Coupons and loyalty discounts are described in the “Vouchers & Coupons” guide.
  • Updatingmultiple prices at once: using Quick Updates, the Tax and Price Update, or via a CSV file.

How Prices Are Calculated in the Store

The store recalculates the price each time the page is loaded, based on the visitor’s customer group and customer account. It always follows the same sequence.

  1. Item price: the net price from the “Prices” tab of the item. This applies to the default customer group and to any group without its own price.
  2. Customer Group Price: If the customer’s group has its own price, it replaces the item price, even if it is higher. This price determines the tiered pricing and quantity rules for that group.
  3. Customer-specific price: A price for this specific customer replaces the group price if it is greater than 0.
  4. Category discount: A percentage applied to the customer group or individual customer for the item’s category.
  5. Special offer: Applies only during the offer period and only if it is lower than the price calculated in step 4.
  6. Tiered price: Applies starting at the quantity entered in the shopping cart if it is lower. It is never higher than a current special price.
  7. Attribute surcharges: The surcharges for the selected attribute values are added.
  8. Display: gross, including the tax rate for the country of delivery, or net, converted to the selected currency and rounded.

The MSRP does not affect the price. It is provided for comparison purposes only and appears if it is higher than the price. Coupons, the discount module, and the loyalty discount apply only to the order total; see “Vouchers & Coupons.” Cash discounts for a specific payment method are described in the “Payment Methods” guide.

A category discount applies only to the item or group price without any additional settings. You specify in the discount line whether it also reduces tiered prices, attribute surcharges, and special prices; see Category Discounts.

Item Price, Tax, and Cost Price

You maintain the price of an item in the “Prices” tab of the item record. This line applies to the default customer group and serves as the basis for all other prices.

Enter Net Price

Enter the price in “Price (net).” The “Price (gross)” field performs the conversion. If you prefer to enter the gross price, the store will save the net price with eight decimal places. With the same tax rate, this will result in your exact gross price in the store.

Tax Rate

The “Tax Rate” field assigns a tax class to the item. The applicable percentage depends on the customer’s country of delivery. A customer from a different country may therefore see a different gross price. Tax rates, OSS, and tax exemptions are explained in the Taxes & OSS guide.

Purchase Price

“Purchase Price (Net)” is visible only in the backend. Next to each price, “Purchase Price Markup (%)” shows the markup on the purchase price. If you enter a percentage there, the form calculates the net price. For more information, see Purchase Price and Profit.

Create and Assign Customer Groups

You can manage customer groups under Customers → Customer Groups. New stores come with “End Customers,” “Domestic Retailers,” and “EU Retailers (Foreign).” The first group (ID 0, “End Customers” by default) is the default customer group: It cannot be deleted, and guests make purchases within it.

  1. To create a new group, open the “Insert” tab. Alternatively, select “Copy” from the context menu of an existing group and enter the “Name of the new customer group.” The copy inherits settings, category discounts, in-kind discounts, and custom fields, but not item prices or special offers. Change any access codes and domains carried over to the copy, as each code and domain may only be associated with one group.
  2. Set the group’s settings (see table below) and save.
  3. Set conditions: individual prices per item (see Prices per Customer Group) or a discount per category (see Category Discounts).
  4. Assign customers: In the Customer section under Customers → Customers, set the “Customer Group” field on the “Customer Data” tab, or assign them automatically during registration (see below).
Edit the "Domestic Retailers" customer group template with "Show Prices" set to Yes, "Price Display" set to Net, "Block Net Price Adjustment" set to No (including help text), "Tax-Exempt Customer Group" set to No, "Show Special Prices" set to Yes, and the checkboxes "Customer Selection at Registration" and "Selection via Parameters" enabled

Automatically assign customers

  • Using an access code or email domain: Under Settings → Checkout → Customer Details → Special Registration Mode, select “accesscode” or “domainname.” The customer will then be assigned to the group where their access code or the domain of their email address is listed under “Extra Fields.”
  • By VAT ID: Under Settings → Checkout → VAT ID Validation → Automatic Merchant Assignment (Domestic or … International ), you can specify which group customers who provide a valid VAT ID during registration will be assigned to. Details are explained in the Taxes & OSS guide.
  • Upon request, companies can be placed in their own group when creating an account; see Sign-Up & Registration.from 4.10

When deleting a group containing customers, the store asks whether the customers should be moved to another group or deleted along with the group. It also deletes the group’s prices, special offers, and discounts.

Net, gross, or no price

How a price appears depends on the customer group and on certain settings under Settings → Design → Product Listing.

Gross or net

The customer group’s “price display” setting determines this. If Settings → General → Basic Settings → “Display sales tax in the store ” is set to false, all customers see net prices.

Both side by side

With Settings → Design → Product Listing → Dual Price Display On/Off, the store displays net and gross prices side by side.

“Dual Price View Only for These Customer Groups” limits this to selected groups, such as resellers; see Login & Registration.from 4.10

Note on the price

The note regarding tax and shipping costs displayed next to the price is controlled under Settings → Checkout → Shipping/Packaging → Price Display (Tax and Shipping Cost Note).

Prices Only for Logged-In or Approved Customers

If “Show Prices” is set to No for a group, Settings → Design → Product Listing → Customer Groups Without Price Display determines what appears instead of the price:

ValueDisplay
falseNo price, no note
anfrage“Price upon request.” On the product page, the button opens a window for a product inquiry.
login“Price after login.” Logged-in customers see prices and can make purchases, even if their group does not see prices.
activation (Default)Guests see “Price after login.” Logged-in customers in a group without price display see “Price after authorization.”

For a B2B store that displays prices only after verification, set the default customer group to “Show prices” = No, select “ activation,” and move verified customers to a group with price display.

The wishlist bar and structured product data for search engines will also not display a price.from 4.10

Price on Request for Individual Items

Items without a price

Leave the price set to 0 and, under Settings → Design → Product Listing → Products Without Price, select “ anfrage.” Instead of the price and “Buy” button, “Price on Request” will appear. Other options: login, activation, nopreis (“No price available!”), and ausblenden. With false (default), the item can be purchased for €0.00.

Toggle in the item

In the “Prices” tab, “Hide Price” hides the price, but the item can still be purchased. “Hide Shopping Cart” removes the Buy button. Both options are intended for items whose price is determined based on a specific attribute.

This is separate from the price suggestion feature: Visitors can suggest a price. It is enabled under Settings → Design → Product Detail View → Price Suggestion On/Off and can be disabled for individual items using “Lock for Price Suggestion.”

Prices by Customer Group

In the “Prices” tab, under “Customer Group Prices,” there is one row per group showing the net and gross prices and the markup. The first row is the item price for the default customer group.

"Prices" tab for an item, showing tax rate, purchase price, net and gross MSRP, "Customer-Specific Prices" button, and the "Customer Group Prices" table: End customers 12.52 net, Domestic dealers 9.00 net, EU dealers (foreign) blank, with purchase price markup in percent

End customers pay the item price; “Domestic Retailers” have their own net price; the empty field for “EU Retailers (Foreign)” uses the end customer price. Click to enlarge.

Field is empty

This group pays the price of the standard customer group and also receives its special offer. If you change the item price, their price changes accordingly.

Custom Price

This replaces the item price for this group, even if it is higher. A price equal to the item price is not considered a custom price.

Custom Price Levels and Quantities

Tiered prices, quantity tiers, and minimum and maximum quantities for a group are listed in the “Tiered Prices” section on that group’s tab; see Tiered Prices.

As soon as a group has its own values—that is, its own price, its own price tiers, or its own quantities—only its own price tiers apply to it. It does not adopt the pricing tiers of the default customer group. If the group has its own pricing tiers or quantities but an empty price field, the store saves the current item price for it. This price will not be updated with subsequent price changes. Therefore, check the group rows after a price change.

Group Prices for Multiple Items

  • Quick Updates: Under Settings → General → Quick Updates → Show Customer Group Prices, select groups. Products → Quick Updates will then display a column with the net price for each group. Clearing a field removes the group’s own price.
  • CSV File: Use the “Tiered Prices (Customer Groups)” importer or the “Customer Group Prices” section; see Import & Export (CSV).

Tiered Pricing and Quantities

Tiered pricing reduces the unit price once a certain quantity is reached in the shopping cart. These prices apply per customer group and can be entered as a fixed price or as a percentage discount.

  1. The number of tiers is set in Settings → General → Maximum Values → Maximum Price Level (Tiered Pricing); the default is 4, with a maximum of 12.
  2. In the product details, on the “Prices” tab under “Tiered Pricing,” open the tab for the relevant group.
  3. For each tier, enter the price in “Tier Price 1 (net / unit)” and the quantity in “Starting at … units.” A negative value indicates a percentage discount: “ -5 ” means 5% below the group price.
  4. Below that, for each group, set “Quantity Tiering” (the customer can only purchase multiples, such as 5, 10, 15), “Full Packaging Unit,” “Minimum Order Quantity,” and “Maximum Order Quantity.”
"Volume Pricing" section with tabs for each customer group; "End Customers" tab with volume tier 1, full packaging unit 0, minimum order quantity 1, maximum order quantity 0, and the tiers starting at 10, 50, and 100 units, with the third tier at -30

Three pricing tiers for end customers: fixed net prices starting at 10 and 50 units; 30% below the group price (-30) for orders of 100 units or more. Click to enlarge.

Adding Quantities Together

Under Settings → Design → Product Listing, “Use cross-option tiered pricing” adds up all attribute combinations of an item in the shopping cart. “Use cross-product-group tiered pricing” adds up all items in the same “product group,” a field in the “General” tab.

Maximum Quantity per Customer

Under Settings → Checkout → Inventory → Maximum Quantities Apply Per Customer, the store takes the customer’s previous orders into account. The “Time Window in Days” field then appears next to the maximum order quantity for each group; 0 means permanently. “Use maximum quantities across options” under Settings → Design → Product Listing applies the maximum quantity collectively to all attribute combinations.

Free Items

Under “In-Kind Discount,” you can set a free quantity per group starting at a certain order quantity, either as “exclusive (free item)” or “inclusive (bonus item).” The shopping cart displays “Free In-Kind Discount” for this.

Display Tiered Pricing in the Store

On the product page, the store displays a table with all tiered prices that are lower than the current price. Tiered pricing appears in the product list only if Settings → Design → Product Listing → “Global” Tiered Pricing Display is set to true. How this is displayed is determined by Settings → Design → Product Listing → Price Display for Tiered Pricing in the Product Listing:

ValueDisplay in the product list
min"Starting at" with the lowest tiered price
completeComplete list of price tiers
mincomplete"Starting at" price and complete list
max (Default)Regular price

If the item is currently on sale, the product list shows the sale price instead of the tiered prices.

Why a tier isn’t displayed

  • It exceeds the “maximum price level.” The store does not use such price tiers and clears them the next time the item is saved.
  • The customer group has its own values but no price tiers of its own. A customer-specific price replaces the group’s price tiers with its own.
  • The tiered pricing is not lower than the current price, for example, due to a special price or a category discount. A category discount without the “Tiered Pricing” toggle does not lower the tiered prices; they often remain above the discounted price.
  • The quantity for the price tier is empty or 0.

Special Offers with a Time Period

A special offer is a special price per customer group, either temporary or permanent. The store displays the regular price crossed out next to it.

You create special offers in the product details under the “Prices” tab in the “Special Offer Prices” section, with one tab per group. An overview of all offers, including a search function and a dedicated form, is available under Products → Special Offers.

"Special Offer Prices" section, "End Customers" tab, with an offer price of 10.00 net and 11.9 gross, a discount of -20%, Offer Name: Special Offer, Offer Display: Standard, Offer Status: Active, Offer From: blank, and Offer To: including date and 23:59:59

A special offer for end customers with no start date: It takes effect immediately and ends at 11:59:59 p.m. on the specified date; the discount is calculated by the form. Click to enlarge.

FieldEffect

“Discount”in the item: Discount as a negative percentage value, such as -20. The form calculates the offer price from this and issues a warning if it falls below the purchase price.
“Offer Description”Text displayed with the offer, such as “Special Offer,” “Easter Offer,” or “Your Price.” You can manage the list via “Edit” next to the field.
“Offer Type”“Standard” or “Live Shopping Event”
“Offer Status”Active or Inactive
“Offer Start Date,” “Offer End Date”Time period with specific times. If left blank, it means immediately or indefinitely. If an end date is specified, the store displays “This offer ends on …”.

A start date in the past is not accepted; the offer is then valid immediately. An end date in the past is also not accepted, and the store deactivates the offer.

For all groups

The special offer for the default customer group applies to every group that does not have its own active offer, provided that “Show Special Prices” is set to Yes for that group. If you do not want a group to receive any offers, set “Show Special Prices” to No for that group.

Only if cheaper

The offer applies only if it is cheaper than the group’s price after a category discount. If a merchant group has a lower price, it will not receive the end-customer offer.

Features

The offer price reduces only the item price. Surcharges for features are added in full. If you want a promotion to also reduce the surcharges, use a category discount with the “Product Features” toggle or a coupon.

Many Items

For a promotion covering many items, enter the special price, start date, and end date via a CSV file; for additional groups, use the “Customer Group Prices” section—see Import & Export (CSV). Under Products → Special Offers, the option “Set data for all slave products as well” applies an offer to all variants of a master item.

The “Special Price” column in Quick Updates shows only the special price for the default customer group and changes only that amount. You can manage the time period, status, and offers for other groups in the product details or under Products → Special Offers.

Category Discounts

A category discount reduces the prices of all items in a category for a customer group by a certain percentage. It has no time period and remains in effect until you delete the discount line.

  1. Edit the group under Customers → Customer Groups.
  2. In the “Category Discount” section, click “Add Discount Line.”
  3. Select the category, enter the “Discount” as a percentage, and set the checkboxes under “Includes” (see table below).
  4. Save. Each category may only appear once per group.
"Domestic Retailers" group's "Category Discount" section with a discount line for the "Oils & Vinegar" category: 10% discount, subcategories: yes, tiered pricing: yes, product features: no, special offers (promotional prices): no, with the "Add Discount Line" button below it

"Tiered prices"the tiered prices of the items

For this group only

Category discounts apply only to the group to which they are assigned. A discount for the standard customer group applies to guests and customers in that group, but not to resellers. Unlike prices and special offers, other groups do not inherit this discount.

Multiple Categories

If an item is in multiple discounted categories, the setting under Settings → Design → Product Listing → Category Discounts for Product Duplicates: “ max ” (default) applies the highest discount, while “ min ” applies the lowest discount.

Exceptions

In the product’s “Prices” tab, selecting “Block Category Discounts” excludes the product from all category discounts. Discounts apply only through active categories.

The store displays a category discount as a price reduction: the regular price is crossed out, and a percentage badge appears on the product, in the shopping cart, and on the order summary showing the savings as a percentage; see “Strikethrough Price” and “MSRP.”

Manufacturer-specific discounts are not available as a pricing rule. Instead, use a manufacturer coupon (see “Vouchers & Coupons”) or Quick Updates with a manufacturer filter (see “Bulk Price Changes”). For limited-time promotions, use special offers or coupons.

Discounts and Prices for Individual Customers

There are two tools for individual customers: category-based discounts per customer and customer-specific prices per item. You can find both under Customers → Customers.

“Discounts” tab

Discount rows are the same as for customer groups, with the same buttons. A customer’s discount row overrides their group’s discount for that specific category, even if it’s lower. For all other categories, the group’s discount still applies.

“Prices” tab

Customer-specific prices per item with their own price tiers, quantity-based pricing, and minimum and maximum quantities. The same list opens in the “Prices” tab for the item when you click the button next to “Customer-Specific Prices.” A price greater than 0 overrides the group price. The customer price’s tiers override the group’s tiers, even if no price is entered. Therefore, be sure to enter the tiers.

Category discount in addition to the customer price?

This is controlled under Settings → Design → Product Listing → Category Discounts on Customer-Specific Prices. With “true” (default), the store deducts category discounts from the customer-specific price in addition to those applied to the group and the customer. If set to “false,” the customer price is the final price: Items with a customer price no longer receive a category discount, not even on price tiers, attributes, or special prices.

Strikethrough Price, MSRP, and Price Notes

The store displays a strikethrough price when the customer pays less than the regular price for their group: for special offers and category discounts.

Purchase section of a product page with the “Special Offer -20%” badge, MSRP €19.99, Price €11.90, “Our old price” €14.90 crossed out, Savings €3.00, “This offer ends on …,” Base price €23.80 per liter and volume discount table starting at 10, 50, and 100 units

This is how a guest sees the special offer: a badge with a percentage, MSRP, a strikethrough price labeled “Our old price,” the end date of the offer, the base price, and the price tiers below the special price. Click to enlarge.

MSRP"Manufacturer's MSRP (net / gross)," only if it is higher than the pricein the “Prices” tab for the item

MSRP

With Settings → Design → Product Listing → Show Discount for MSRP Prices, the store displays the savings compared to the MSRP similarly to a special offer, but not for items with a special offer. Attribute values can increase the MSRP.

MSRP in Other Countries

With Settings → Checkout → Shopping Cart → Calculate MSRP with Store Tax, the gross MSRP for customers from other countries remains as high as it is in the store’s country. This is useful if the MSRP is already set up to include your country’s tax.

Unit

If the item has a “packaging unit” such as “year,” the MSRP and strikethrough price display it as part of the price, for example, “/year.”

Lowest Price in the Last 30 Days

There is no automatic indication of the lowest price over the last 30 days. The strikethrough price is always the current regular price. For price reductions offered to consumers, Section 11 of the Price Indication Regulation generally requires the lowest total price over the last 30 days to be used as a reference. This also applies to a category discount, since it, too, appears as the strikethrough price. Before launching a promotion, check whether the regular price was in effect during the preceding 30 days.

Base Price and Unit of Packaging

The store calculates the base price—that is, the price per liter, kilogram, or meter—based on the price and a factor.

  1. Go to Settings → General → Basic Settings → Turn the Base Price Function on/off.
  2. In the product details under the “Prices” tab, enter the “Base Price Factor” and the “Base Unit” (such as l or kg). For 0.5 l, the factor is 2. The “Calculate Base Price Factor” button helps with the calculation.
  3. The store will then display, for example, “Base Price: 3.98 € / l,” including in the tiered pricing table for each tier.

A variant value can have its own base price factor, such as for different fill quantities. The “packaging unit” (such as “piece”) appears after the price and quantity information.

Surcharges for Attributes

An attribute value can have a surcharge or discount. Enter it as a net amount under “Option Price” next to the value in the “Attributes” tab; see Product Attributes.

Discounts and Special Offers

A category discount reduces the surcharge only when the “Product Attributes” checkbox isselected. A special offer never reduces it. The store calculates a surcharge entered with a decimal point, such as 23.66, including the decimal places.from 4.9.92

“Starting at” Price in the List

If Settings → Design → Product Listing → Enable/Disable Shopping Cart Function in Listing for Option Products is set to true, the product list will not display a “Buy” button for items with feature surcharges and will show the price as “starting at …”. For master and variant items, this behavior is controlled by the “Hide shopping cart function in product listing for master/slave products” setting.

Price Formulas

Prices based on area, length, or number of nights are calculated by a formula in the option price, such as ov12*45, which multiplies the number entered in the attribute by 12 times 45 € net. See Product Attributes: Price Formulas for instructions.XONIC Premium: Erweiterte Merkmalsfunktionen

Changing Multiple Surcharges

You can change the surcharges for many items using the CSV importer “Product Options (Attributes)”; see Import & Export (CSV). Quick Updates and the Tax and Price Update do not change surcharges.

Rounding for Net Prices

Customers who see gross prices pay the rounded gross price. For customers who see net prices, it depends on when the store rounds the price.

Example: 450 units at €0.10 gross with 19% tax. The net price is €0.0840 per unit.

  • legacy: The store rounds the net unit price to €0.08 and then multiplies by 450. Result: €36.00 net, €42.84 gross.
  • exact: The store uses the unrounded unit price and rounds the total first. Result: €45.00 gross, same as for the gross customer.

Rounding of Net Unit Prices

The setting is located under Settings → General → Basic Settings → Rounding of Net Unit Prices for Net Price Display. New stores start with exact; existing stores retain legacy after the update.from 4.9.47

When switching, the amounts for net customers will change for all items whose net price has more decimal places than the currency. Open shopping carts will be recalculated; completed orders will remain unchanged.

Switch per customer group

The “Block Net Price Adjustment” toggle in the customer group disables all rounding of individual prices for that group, including cent rounding and rounding after a currency conversion. It takes effect only in the shop, not in order processing in the backend, and takes precedence. By default, the shop rounds prices in Swiss francs to the nearest 5 rappen. For these prices, this toggle is the only way to disable rounding of individual prices.

Bulk Price Changes

There are three tools available for managing multiple items. Before making major changes, export the affected prices as a backup—for example, using a copy of the “Price Update” CSV Porter.

Quick Updates: Percentage for selected items

  1. Select a category, manufacturer, or supplier at the top and set the “Lines per Page” accordingly.
  2. In “(+/-) Value or Percentage,” enter, for example, -10% or +2.
  3. Check the boxes next to the items; “Invert Selection” checks or unchecks all at once. The net prices in the list will update.
  4. Click “Update” to save. This applies only to the currently displayed page.

Tax and Price Update: Category or Entire Store

  1. Step 1: Select “Tax Classes” and “Categories.” For all items, select all tax classes and all main categories with “Include Subcategories.”
  2. Step 2: Check “Pricing,” select “Variant B,” and under “Change price by,” enter a percentage or amount in euros, then specify a price markup or discount. Optionally, set rounding rules.
  3. Under “Also change tiered prices for the following customer groups,” select the groups whose own prices and tiers should be adjusted accordingly.
  4. Click “Calculate Preview,” review the list, check “Yes, I have created a backup of the database beforehand,” and click “Save Permanently.” from 4.9.27
Tax and Price Update with Step 1 (Tax Class: Normal, Category: Oils & Vinegar, Include Subcategories: Yes) and Step 2 (Tax change: No; Pricing: Yes, with customer group “Domestic Retailers,” variant B; change price by a 5 percent net markup; rounding rules: Off) and the “Calculate Preview” button

A 5% markup on all items in the “Oils & Vinegar” category subject to standard tax; the prices set by “Domestic Retailers” are included; the new prices are only displayed in the preview. Click to enlarge.

The tax and price update permanently saves the prices. The only way to revert is via a database backup. Check the preview before saving.
Quick Updates with Special Prices: If “Edit Special Offer Price” is enabled under Settings → General → Quick Updates, clicking “Update” will remove all special offers for any item on the page with an empty special price field—including those for other customer groups. Only enable this setting if you want to change special prices, and check every row on the page before saving.

Bundle Prices

Like any product, a bundle has its own price in the “Prices” tab, including group prices, tiered pricing, and special offers.

Total for Reference

The “Bundle Price” column in the customer group prices shows, for each group, the total of the current prices of the bundle products, net and gross. You enter the bundle price yourself.

Calculate Price Automatically

In the “Bundle” tab, the option “Automatically calculate bundle price based on bundle products” calculates the base and group prices from the regular prices of the bundle products, with a percentage markup or discount. Special, tiered, and customer prices are not included in this calculation. If the price of a bundle product changes, the store recalculates the bundleprice.from 4.10

Cost Price and Profit

The store uses the cost price to calculate the profit per order and in reports.

Maintain Purchase Price

In the product details under the “Prices” tab at “Cost Price (net)”; for multiple products, use Quick Updates or a CSV file. Attribute values can have their own cost price, which is added to the total when an order is placed.

Saved with the order

When an order is placed, the store saves the purchase price for each line item. Subsequent changes to the product do not affect the profit on older orders. If the value is missing for a line item, the system uses the product’s current purchase price.

Reports

Under Reports → Profit Calculation: Products and Reports → Profit Calculation: Sales. Whether shipping counts toward profit is controlled by Settings → Reports → General → Treat shipping as profit-neutral; ex-works shipping does not count.

Purchase Price for Bundles

The store does not calculate the purchase price of a bundle based on the bundle products. Enter it for the bundle item, for example, as the sum of the purchase prices of the bundle products. If “Individual Products by Order” is set to “Yes” in the “Bundle” tab, the store saves the bundle products with their own purchase prices in the order. In that case, leave the purchase price of the bundle item blank and check the profit using a test order.

Currency and Shipping Country

You enter prices in the default currency. For other currencies, the store converts them using the applicable exchange rate.

Exchange Rate

You can find the exchange rate for each currency under Settings → Languages / Currencies → Currencies in the “Value” field. If it is set to 0, the store displays all prices in that currency as 0.00.

Switching Based on Delivery Country

Under Settings → Checkout → General → Automatic Currency Conversion: Destination Country (default: true), the currency changes based on the shipping country—for example, to CHF for Switzerland and to EUR for EU countries, provided the currency is set up. If set to false, the customer retains their original currency.

Offer Currency Switch

Settings → Checkout → General → Offer Currency Conversion (IP Detection) offers guests a currency conversion based on their IP address. This feature is disabled by default.

Is the price in the store different from what’s listed?

Check these points in order. The quickest way to find the cause is to use a test account in the affected customer group and with the customer’s shipping country.

  1. Gross or net: The item lists the net price. The store displays the gross price with the tax rate for the delivery country; net customers see the net price.
  2. Customer group: Does the group have its own price, including an old product price carried over when saving? See Prices by Customer Group.
  3. Customer-specific price: In the customer’s “Prices” tab.
  4. Category discount: In the group or in the customer’s “Discounts” tab; also available via a parent category with “Subcategories.”
  5. Special offer: This includes offers for the default customer group that also apply to other groups. If the offer has expired or has not yet begun, the store displays the regular price.
  6. Tiered pricing: Is there already a large quantity in the shopping cart?
  7. Attribute: Is a value with a surcharge preselected?
  8. Currency and Rounding: Exchange rate, rounded to 5 rappen for Swiss francs, rounded for net customers.
  9. Price 0: In this case, “Products without a price” applies; see Price Display.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the store show a different price than the one listed in the product?

In most cases, the customer sees the gross price with the tax rate of their country of delivery, or they are eligible for a group price, a customer price, a category discount, a special offer, or a tiered price. The checklist under “Different Price in the Store?” walks you through all the points.

How do I create another customer group with its own terms?

Go to Customers → Customer Groups and use the “Insert” tab or “Copy” an existing group. Then set the price display (gross/net) and special prices, enter category discounts, and update the group’s prices in the product listing. You assign customers to a customer group in the “Customer Group” field.

How do I set up tiered pricing for multiple customer groups?

In the product details, under the “Prices” tab in the “Tiered Prices” section, each group has its own tab. A group with its own values uses only its own price tiers, not those of the default customer group. For a large number of products, use the CSV importer “Tiered Prices (Customer Groups).”

Why aren’t the configured tiered prices displayed in the store?

Common reasons: The tier exceeds the “Maximum Price Level,” the customer group or customer has its own values without tiers, or the tier is not cheaper than a special price or a category discount. Tiered pricing appears in the product list only if “Global Tiered Pricing Display On/Off” is set to true. A complete list of reasons can be found under Tiered Pricing.

How do I display a “from” price for tiered pricing in the product list?

Under Settings → Design → Product Listing, set “Global Tiered Price Display On/Off” to true and “Price Display for Tiered Prices in Product Listing” to “ min.” For items with an active special offer, the list displays the special price.

How does a category discount also apply to tiered pricing, product attributes, and special offers?

In the discount row for the customer group, enable the “Tiered Prices,” “Product Attributes,” and “Special Offers (Promotional Prices)” toggles. Without them, the discount applies only to the item or group price.

Do the discounts for the default customer group also apply to other customer groups?

Category discounts do not: They apply only to guests and customers in the group where they are entered. Prices and special offers for the default customer group, however, apply to any group that does not have its own price or offer. Special offers apply only if “Show Special Prices” is set to Yes for the group.

Why does the store deduct the category discount from the customer’s price as well?

Because Settings → Design → Product Listing → “Apply category discounts to customer-specific prices” is set to “true,” which is the default. If set to “false,” the customer-specific price is the final price, and no category discount applies to these items.

How do I display “Price upon request” instead of a price?

For individual items: Set the price to 0 and, under Settings → Design → Product Listing, set “Products without a price” to “ anfrage.” For an entire customer group: In the group, set “Show Prices” to “No” and “Customer Groups Without Price Display” to “ anfrage.” On the product page, the button opens a window for a question about the product.

Why is a price of 0 displayed for a shipping country?

First, check the “Value” of that country’s currency under Settings → Languages / Currencies → Currencies. If the store switches currencies based on the delivery country and the exchange rate is set to 0, all prices will appear as 0.00. Enter the exchange rate or disable automatic currency conversion.

How do I disable automatic currency conversion based on the shipping country?

Go to Settings → Checkout → General → “Automatic Currency Conversion: Destination Country” = false. The customer will then retain the currency they selected or the default currency.

How do I change the prices of a category or all items by a certain percentage?

To make permanent changes, go to Tools → Tax and Price Update: Select tax classes and categories, choose “Variant B,” enter the percentage and price increase or decrease, review the preview, and save. For individual pages, you can also use Quick Updates with “(+/-) Value or Percentage.” If you want to lower the price for only one customer group without changing the prices, use a category discount.

How do I set up a limited-time discount promotion for multiple items?

Enter the special price, start date, and end date for each item via a CSV file; see Import & Export (CSV). The store will display the offers only during the specified time period. A category discount has no time limit. For a limited-time discount on categories or manufacturers, a coupon with a validity period is recommended.

How do I change attribute prices in bulk, for example, for all items from a single supplier?

Use the CSV Porter “Product Options (Attributes”): Export surcharges, modify them in the spreadsheet, and re-import them. Quick Updates with a supplier filter only change item prices; the tax and price update also does not affect surcharges.

How do I remove all tiered prices at once?

Via CSV file: Export the tiered pricing columns, clear the cells, and re-import them. An empty cell clears the field. To delete a customer group’s price row—including tiered pricing—enter the value “ del ” in the customer group price field; see Import & Export (CSV). Be careful with the default customer group: Entering “ del ” there sets the item price to 0.

Why does the maximum quantity for end customers also apply to other customer groups?

A group without its own values inherits the quantities from the default customer group. Even if the group’s “Maximum Order Quantity” field is empty or set to 0, it will adopt the value from the default customer group when saved. If you want a group to be able to purchase virtually unlimited quantities, enter a high maximum quantity for that group.

Where do I control the text next to the crossed-out price?

The text before the strikethrough price is the item’s “Discount Note,” which defaults to “Our Old Price.” The icon next to the price displays the “Special Offer Name.” You can edit both lists via “Edit” next to the respective field on the “Prices” tab.

Why do customers see discount percentages in the shopping cart and in the order summary?

A category discount appears as a price reduction: The store displays the regular price crossed out and the savings as a percentage. There is no setting to hide this. The display can be customized in the template.

How do I offer items only to a specific customer group, for example via a link?

In the product details under the “General” tab, set “Customer Groups” to “Selection” and leave only the desired groups checked. For guests without an account: Enable the “Selection by Parameter Allowed” group and share the link https://ihr-shop.example/index.php?c_group=<ID>. Anyone who knows the link will see the prices and product selection for that group. However, guests cannot place orders at these prices: As soon as they submit the guest form during the checkout process, the store reverts to the prices of the default group. You should therefore assign retailer discounts via customer accounts; see the “Manage Customers” guide.

Is there an automatic indication of the lowest price over the last 30 days?

No. The crossed-out price is the current regular price. For price reductions, check yourself whether that price was in effect within the previous 30 days; see “Crossed-Out Price and MSRP.”

Does the store save a price history for each item?

Partially. The history in the product list (Action menu “Log (History),” visible only to the main administrator) shows changes that have been saved for the item, including changes to item and group prices. Changes made via Quick Updates, the tax and price update, or imports are not included there. There is no price history available for customers.

How do I calculate rental rates based on the number of nights?

Use a “Nights” attribute as a numeric field and a formula in the option price, such as ov12*45, which multiplies the entered number by €45 net per night. Formulas are part of the XONIC Premium add-on module: Advanced Attribute Functions; see Product Attributes: Price Formulas.

How is profit calculated for bundles?

The store uses the purchase price stored in the order line item. For a bundle, this is the purchase price of the bundle item, which you enter yourself. If the bundle stores its bundle products as individual line items, their purchase prices are used. See Purchase Price and Profit for details.
