Automatic translation with DeepL

Your store speaks every language.

You manage your content in German; DeepL translates the rest: articles, categories, CMS pages, and news are automatically translated into all of your store’s active languages. This happens in the background and only where changes have been made.

Automatically in the background
A regular process translates new and updated content. You save it; DeepL translates it.
You determine the scope
You can enable or disable sections, individual fields, and target languages in the translation management section.
Only changes are translated
A checksum for each data record identifies unchanged text. Saving without changing the text does not count toward your character limit.

About 50 content areas, one tool.

The translation system recognizes the content of the XONIC Shop System and writes each translation back to the correct location. Individual products, master products, and variants have their own field settings.

  • Products with names, descriptions, tabs, image and video captions, and metadata
  • Attributes and attribute values
  • Categories, CMS pages, and CMS boxes
  • News, news categories, and FAQs
  • Email templates and text modules
  • Sliders, badges, coupons, and shipping profiles

Go multilingual in four steps.

Enter your key
You can enter your DeepL API key under Settings → Interfaces → Translation Tools → DeepL.

Define scope
Select areas, fields, and target languages in Translation Management.

Maintain the glossary
Define fixed terms such as brand and product names for each language pair.

Runs automatically
New and modified content is translated; the HealthCheck reports a halt.

In detail

To ensure the translation is correct in the online store.

Placeholders are preserved
Placeholders, embedded videos, and sections marked as “do not translate” remain unchanged.
Links and icons
Links with icons remain intact; alt, title, and aria texts are also translated.
Even long pages
The system splits very large content at clear boundaries and reassembles it.
Glossaries
Create, edit, duplicate, or import terms per language pair via CSV.
Track Your Quota
Usage, remaining quota, and an estimate of remaining characters before each run.
URLs by Language
Custom descriptive URLs for each language upon request; a changed address redirects via a 301 redirect.
Run at the push of a button
In addition to the automatic run, you can start a run at any time from the backend, with a progress bar.
Monitoring
Once the translation is complete, HealthCheck notifies you and provides instructions on how to resolve any issues.

Requirements

  • Your own DeepL API access (DeepL API Free or Pro)
  • DeepL bills you directly for the translation characters
  • At least one other active language in the store

Translating individual items remains free

  • The DeepL buttons next to the input fields work even without the add-on module
  • The add-on module handles the automatic translation of the entire store
